Flipped classroom
The flipped classroom approach reverses traditional teaching by having students study instructional materials, like videos or readings, at home before class, freeing up class time for interactive activities. In language classes, this allows students to focus on communicative skills, such as speaking and listening, while teachers provide individualized support and feedback. Flipped classroom technique promotes learning and independent study, but it relies on students’ discipline and access to technology, which can be deceiving. While ideal for real-world language use, it requires significant preparation from teachers and might be less effective for beginners without fundamental knowledge. When it comes to our assignment, my peers were Başak and Pınar, from the same class of mine. For our flipped classroom assignment, from the material our instructor Mustafa Polat assigned us with, we chose the unit My Town. We have used 10 places from it for vocabulary items to use in our flipped classroom assignment. To prepare our material, we took help from websites and tools like Animaker, Capcut and Quizziz. In Animaker, we have designed our characters, places and visuals to demonstrate the items we chose. Then, we recorded our voices to add to the animations. Afterwards, we used Capcut to edit the audio into our animations. Finally, we have prepared a quiz on Quizziz as our final stage of assignment. The problems we faced were about the privileges of being a premium member for all these apps and websites, though we came over all of them. Here is the link of our flipped classroom animation. And you can find our quiz here.
